Projects
Did your semester go the way you had imagined? Why or why not?
My semester turned out to be an okay year. I had my ups and downs, but I still pulled through. Some examples, I worked hard on most of my projects and homework, but I also missed some things blogs that later dragged me to the bottom. List and elaborate on at least three areas of personal growth. Teamwork: I've grown in teamwork the most because I spent most of my time helping others, asking questions, and just working together with my peers. Efficiency: I've grown in efficiency because I work hard, turn in work, and repeat. Doing the same clean work for all my projects. Organization: I've grown in organization the least because I don't keep track of my work. I now just started using a log to keep track on upcoming work. List and elaborate on at least three areas of academic growth. Chemistry: I've grown in chemistry the most because I worked the hardest in that class. I learned and work on many things. Such as my blog posts about what we learned on that day. I was giving it my all. Math: I've grown in math because it helped me improve on my efficiency and my work completion. Humanities: I’ve grown in humanities the least because i haven’t really learned anything. I have been working hard but that’s it. Did you accomplish or move closer to accomplishing any goals you had at the beginning of the semester? If so, explain how, if not, explain why. I almost completed my goal of having all A’s in all my classes, I just missing a few things for one of my classes. I am now working towards getting my grade back up so I will have all A’s and be ready to do better for next semester.

State and describe two goals for next semester. One in an area of personal growth and one in an area of academic growth. Additionally, very specifically explain how you plan to accomplish them.
My first goal is to become more organized and keep track of my work, I can complete this by using a log or some other way remember due dates. Another goal I have is to talk more to my teachers and ask questions when I need to. Did you engage in our project and the work that surrounded it to the best of your ability? If yes, cite and explain examples, if no, reflect on why that was, and what could have been done differently to get you to engage. I gave this project my 100% attention and helped in any way possible. For example: my group had to make a magazine article about ocean acidification, how it affects the ocean, and other things we found during our research. What I did was I made sure everyone else completed their articles, and help them encase they were having trouble. If you could design and execute your own semester, your own project, what would it be and why? What would you hope others would learn from it?
For my class project, I would like to make posters about real world events. Students would group up and study about anything in history, so it gives a chance for students to learn new things about the world. What feedback do you have for us, Andrew and Adam? How could the project have been better? How could our individual classes have been better? Both and project: Together, it’s not really a combined class, it’s just a free work period. Since you guys give so much free time, us kids abuse it and do absolutely nothing. You guys should lower the free time and give students a goal to complete. The capstone project however, was great. It gave kids something to do and a different work style for everyone. Keep doing the capstone project. Andrew: Your class was great. I learned many new things and got to build rockets, but I think more hands on projects during your individual class. Not a lot, but some for most lesson, or those projects are the lesson. Either one is great. Adam: Your class was good. The only problem was it felt like I wasn’t learning anything. Maybe something we could learn about the world in the past? Or give students more socratic seminars. What feedback do you have for us, Andrew and Adam? How could the project have been better? How could our individual classes have been better? Group thesis: My group's goal is to study and record the ocean and how we as humans are affecting it. We are going to share our findings with others by recording it all in a magazine article. Group proposal Right now, I have completed my article about the great garbage patch, I am now waiting for the others to finish. During my research, I discovered more about the trash floating in the ocean. I learned about the great garbage patch, which is a giant amount of trash floating in the ocean. I also learned that all sea life mistake trash for food, which sits in their stomachs to eventually kill the fish. Later on, a bigger fish would come and eat that fish, repeating the process. But the worst thing I've learned were tumble nets, nets that come together and roll across the sea, pulling and ripping apart everything in their paths. Progression: Our work is going great. This week my group came together, face-to-face, multiple times this week, and planned our next moves. After that we worked on our articles and finished(all but one though). My short term goal is to format and add pictures, so it would look like an actual magazine article, so it wouldn’t look boring. My long term goal is to put my article into my group’s magazine and use our group template so it will all look the same. Also, we hope our magazine will let people know that our ocean is being polluted with trash, and hope that people would think smarter about trash, by recycling and reusing.
How can be so quick to want to leave the solar system when we can't even take care of our own planet. Loren McClenachan of colby college say’s “There are clear signs already that humans are harming the oceans to a remarkable degree, and by the time we get to exploring it it might be dead. “Coral reefs, for example, have declined by 40 percent worldwide, partly as a result of climate-change-driven warming.” Written Director's Commentary
The film stars Matthew (helps make the rocket), Joel (edits the film), and Sarah (plans ideas). In the movie, the three friends act as scientists who work at pasa. One day, Matthew create’s a rocket, which the three friends then launch. Finally, we get see where the rocket goes and as it comes back down. We chose our plot because we wanted it to be funny while showing what was happening as we were launching the rocket. For my part in the play, I am a helpful scientist who does what he is told, but also doesn’t know what I am doing. It applies to me because I like to help out in any I can, but I don’t know what I am doing most of the time, so I sometimes rely on others. I thought it was enjoying to make another set of rockets again, also we had to use a checklist to keep track of all our stuff which makes things a lot easier. For my rocket launch, the rocket did go up, but then the rocket tills to the side and goes left. As for the recovery, the parachute didn’t come out and the fins left the rocket just as it was blasting off. The next time we make rockets, I will make a better body and fin design so the rocket would go higher up, also I would give it a better paint job so it would look amazing. Finally, I am proud that I was able to contribute most of my time, but wish I could of been a better help than before. Reflection
What did you learn about rockets? I learned that the rocket's aerodynamics play a huge part when launching. The way the rocket is built affects the way it's going to fly. For an example, if the ship was made in a arrow shape, it would go higher because it is piercing through the air. But if the rocket is built like a block with wings, its not gonna go as high. What will you do differently for your next build? For my next build, I am going to have is the same size. I am going to make it more aerodynamic and make the wings bigger. |
