Group thesis: My group's goal is to study and record the ocean and how we as humans are affecting it. We are going to share our findings with others by recording it all in a magazine article. Group proposal Right now, I have completed my article about the great garbage patch, I am now waiting for the others to finish. During my research, I discovered more about the trash floating in the ocean. I learned about the great garbage patch, which is a giant amount of trash floating in the ocean. I also learned that all sea life mistake trash for food, which sits in their stomachs to eventually kill the fish. Later on, a bigger fish would come and eat that fish, repeating the process. But the worst thing I've learned were tumble nets, nets that come together and roll across the sea, pulling and ripping apart everything in their paths. Progression: Our work is going great. This week my group came together, face-to-face, multiple times this week, and planned our next moves. After that we worked on our articles and finished(all but one though). My short term goal is to format and add pictures, so it would look like an actual magazine article, so it wouldn’t look boring. My long term goal is to put my article into my group’s magazine and use our group template so it will all look the same. Also, we hope our magazine will let people know that our ocean is being polluted with trash, and hope that people would think smarter about trash, by recycling and reusing.
How can be so quick to want to leave the solar system when we can't even take care of our own planet. Loren McClenachan of colby college say’s “There are clear signs already that humans are harming the oceans to a remarkable degree, and by the time we get to exploring it it might be dead. “Coral reefs, for example, have declined by 40 percent worldwide, partly as a result of climate-change-driven warming.”
